Apis mellifera

December 15, 2014

This worker bee is all loaded up.  I took this photo off of Long Lake Road, near Traverse City this August.  There's another insect in the shot: who can find and identify?

Camera Nerdery: I had intended to take photos of the sunflower field, not the insects, so I had the wrong lens for the job on camera when this subject came buzzing into view.  What I will say for the 35L, though, is that it has a relatively close minimum focusing distance, which helps. I am curious about the Sigma Art equivalent: cheaper, better resolution.   I tried the 50 Sigma Art in-shop on this same trip just after it was released and was floored. Prudence alone keeps me from buying AllTheLenses. [Canon 1DsIII, 35L, 1/640th, f/3.2, ISO 640]

ShakyHandsPhotoBlog: It's a thing again!  I'll let you know if I figure what it's about.

Being so passionate about photography, I reckon this will be about the photos I take outside of paid work--the stuff I do for fun, following the thing where it goes.
